Dr. Tryggvi Thor Herbertsson is Head of Hydrogen Strategy and Partnership at Qair International, Chairman of Qair Iceland H2, Blær (hydrogen refueling), and ASP Isotopes Iceland, which develops isotope enrichment technology for nuclear medicine and semiconductors. He also serves on the steering group of the Task Force for Carbon Pricing Europe and the board of VOR, Iceland’s e-fuels association.
He has previously been a Member of Parliament for the Independence Party, serving on the Committees for Economics, Taxation, and Industries, and a Professor of Economics at the Universities of Reykjavík and Iceland. Earlier roles include CEO of Askar Capital, Special Economic Advisor to the Prime Minister during Iceland’s 2008 banking collapse, and Director of the Institute of Economic Studies.
Dr. Herbertsson has advised governments, international organizations (World Bank, IMF, OECD, European Commission, World Economic Forum), and Fortune 500 companies. He has authored more than 50 scholarly papers, 13 books, and over 100 op-eds. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Aarhus.
