Ágúst Hjörtur Ingþórsson, the director of Icelandic Center for Research (RANNIS), holds a BA in Philosophy and Literature from the University of Iceland and a Master’s degree in Political Philosophy from the University of Ottawa. He has over 30 years of experience in the fields of science, education, and innovation administration, including extensive work in European cooperation. Ágúst has developed strong expertise in strategy, leadership, program and project management, and cross-sector collaboration. His academic background also includes further studies in public science, technology, and innovation policy at both the University of Iceland and the University of Sussex. Throughout his career, he has focused on fostering community engagement and strengthening social services through effective policy and innovation frameworks. Ágúst brings a unique blend of academic insight and practical leadership to initiatives that bridge the gap between research, policy, and societal needs.
