Professor Ivo Martinac specializes in mechanical and building services engineering (HVAC), with expertise in indoor environmental quality (IEQ), energy efficiency, and energy systems in the built environment. Research and professional work include HVAC/IEQ systems for commercial aircraft, environmental management for hotels and resorts, and energy system optimization at building, district, and urban scales.

Professor Ivo Martinac has led and participated in numerous international academic and industrial collaborations across Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa, and Australia. Current research focuses on user-centric building performance management, data-driven smart and sustainable buildings and cities, decarbonization in the built environment, climate-proofing of buildings, and resilient energy systems for remote communities.
